It's been a long "Voice" road for Matt Johnson, who first auditioned for the NBC singing show in its inaugural season in 2011.

Finally, Johnson turned a chair during Monday night's final round of blind auditions, seven years after his first "Voice" audition, with his rendition of Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much."

"The Voice" shared his audition on the show's official Facebook page and noted, "This artist auditioned every season and he finally made it!"

Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton had previously filled up their teams, so it was up to Jennifer Hudson to make Johnson's dreams a reality – and she delivered, turning her chair for Johnson as his mother, who accompanied him to his previous "Voice" auditions despite receiving a diagnosis of stage four breast cancer, broke down in tears backstage.

"I've been auditioning for this show since Season 1," Johnson told the coaches after his performance, earning a standing ovation.

“That means you’ve been on this show about as long as Blake (Shelton) and I have,” Adam Levine joked. “You should get an honorary chair!”

"It's so refreshing to hear somebody sing such a legend, such an icon, like Luther Vandross," Hudson said.

"I mean, I love all of you, but you are, like, my favorite singer," Johnson told Hudson.

"Wow. Well, welcome to team J Hud!" she exclaimed.

After Johnson introduced his mom, the judges brought her onstage, where she shared a moment with Johnson and Hudson.

Battle rounds continue on "The Voice" on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
